Rendition Toward Books Berserk, Vol. 9 (ベルセルク / Berserk #9)
Griffith, charismatic leader of the elite mercenary Band of the Hawk, has seen better days. His fearless champion, Guts, has left the Band, defeating Griffith in personal combat as his ticket out. With his judgment clouded by this unthinkable humiliation, Griffith eases his pain in the arms of the daughter of Midland’s king. But the King doesn’t take kindly to an employee picking the royal flowers, and the next stop for Griffith is the dungeon and the torture rack! Without Griffith and Guts, the Hawks become easy prey for Midland’s army, and the AWOL Guts may be the only answer to the Hawks' — and Griffith’s — lethal problems.

Absoluty amazing. The relationship of Guts and Kasca is really fantastic because it had a very good development and you can feel how they need each other to carry on in their hard lifes.I'm so close to the big event lmlEasily my favorite volume yet, this one is full of interpersonal drama. The bit of action that it does have is a little lackluster, in my opinion, but the rest of it is presented so well that I don't really care. This volume has so much emotion, passion, horror, (and sex), it's just hard not to love every page.
I don't know why this volume is drawing so much heat with reviewers here, as I think it's probably one of the better volumes in the series thus far. In the wake of Guts's departure, Griffith basically loses it and to fill the unexpected void left by what he feels is abandonment by his friend, foolishly decides to speed up his plans and devote himself to the rapid attainment of the ambition he'd been so patiently and methodically working toward his entire life. In a fit of unthinking desperation,

And it begins. This volume had some beautifully solemn scenes (I showed my wife page after page of the Knight of Skeleton chapter just to show the art), some great action scenes (Salit feels like he brings a bit of JoJo's to Berserk), and some truly horrible scenes (ick...). But, what really gets this volume that 4th star is the finale set of chapters with Guts and Casca. I've thought from the start that Miura handles trauma and PTSD in a pretty respectful manner -- things people don't get over
We are finally seeing the downward spiral of Griffith and do wish it can hurry it back up to the demon stuff because honestly seeing Guts plow through every enemy with some ease is kind of boring. Also while I do appreciate the romance stuff and the fact that Guts does have PTSD from his time with Gambino I still wish the story would keep nudity to a minimum also that King is a really messed up character as I feel there a little to many pedophiles in this story between the guy from Guts past,
Man, I didnt think this series could get more brutal but it did... and its amazing!Whats it about?I cant describe that without spoilers, skip! Why it gets 5 stars:The story is the best thing in the fantasy genre IMO. Its so dark, gripping, interesting and well written. I love it so much!I keep saying it but... this art is amazing. Kentaro Miura is one of the best artists of all time and this series shows it with the beautiful, perfectly drawn mixed styles of art! Even if you look at the storyline
