The Death of Vultures
“STORM SEASON… ranging from the book's dense prose to its format, Wingate demands readers' close attention from the very first sentence to the last. But does it pay off? Absolutely. Prepare to be haunted long after turning the final page.” –BestThrillers.com
Meg Storm has stepped in it. After becoming entangled within an industry as nefarious as it is criminal, she gets swept into the lurid world of drugs. After her daughter, Lily, dies from an apparent heroin overdose, and later her husband, Meg has nothing left to lose. She becomes a woman on the hunt. But will she be the hunter? Or, the hunted?

This novel is a hard, deep read. It explores a mother's loss and sadness of her daughter in a way that really got me into the story. Each twist and turns and the mystery just kept me dreading what will happen next. At times, I would need to put this book down for a while before I continue to the next page. The story just turns out to be a bit darker to my liking. Readers who like mystery/thriller will surely love this book.I voluntarily read and review a free copy of this book provided via
This was a hard book to read. I lost two brothers to drugs. I think its a great book, sad beyond words, but great in that it goes into detail about what is going on in this country. Its a story of a mothers love, a wifes determination and the hurt and anger she has. A must read for everyone especially if you have lost someone to drugs. #NetGalley

Mourning, metaphor, and mystery - those are the three main themes that resonate with me as I contemplate Wingate's book. The story encircles the mysterious death of Lilly Storm and the heart-wrenching grief that envelopes her parents, Meg and Jay. They struggle to grip a reality that is as confusing as their daughter's drug-infused life. As a parent, it's hard to maintain a dry eye when immersed in the mentally and physically aching grief that Wingate depicts. However, the mystery of why and who
Susan Wingate creates emotions one should feel when reading. The characters are so real, the situations, especially perceptions people have about situations and how these have an effect on decisions, are so raw and emotional. This isn't an easy book, but it's beautiful because this could be happening to you.
The Death of Vultures is an intense white-knuckle journey into the dark heart of drug addiction and the toll it inflicts on one American family. An unflinching, ingeniously-structured novel that's hard to put down. And hard to forget.
Twisted thriller. This is a of lose and revenge. This is a story of what can happen and change your entire world. The characters are well written. You feel for everything that is happening to the characters. How would you react? An interesting and well written thriller.

I was provided a complimentary copy from pumpupyourbook.com in exchange for an honest review. This book is amazing. Susan Wingate has a way of getting really descriptive with emotion in ways I havent seen in other books. The subjects included in this story are drug use, overdose, suicide, death, loss and so much more , but because I share a personal connection with them, it makes STORM SEASON very relatable which I enjoy. If you feel like you could connect to these subjects, READ THIS book you wontThis novel is a hard, deep read.
